Zippys Honolulu is my all time favorite place for comfort food. Zippys Honolulu, specifically the one located in Makiki is the closest location to where I live. If you think eating out in Oahu is expensive, then Zippys is the exception because they have great food and cheap prices. Anytime I don’t know what to eat, but want to dine out, Zippys will be my top choice because they have a diverse selection of food whether it be Asian, American, Hawaiian or local food.

Environment

The restaurant has an antiquated feel, yet it’s a great place to be with family and friends. It almost has a nostalgic aura, reminding you of your childhood days. The restaurant is clean too!

Food/Price

At this location like any Zippy’s locations, there is an express/take out section and a dine-in section . The menu of the takeout section does not contain all the food items that you may see on the dine-in menu. The great thing about Zippys is they mix up their menus monthly and daily. There are daily specials, which is available at the dine-in and take out section as well as monthly specials when you dine in. The great thing about Zippys is you can have a delicious meal for under $10.00. 

My recommendations are the Chili, Spaghetti, Fried Chicken, and Korean Fried Chicken, and Corn Chowder (only available on certain days). And you can’t go wrong with their breakfast menu, which is served all day at the dine-in section. I love ordering the two eggs meal with Portuguese Sausage and toast. The price of the food is very cheap and it’s hard to find cheap restaurants when dining out these days. Also, you have a choice between a mini and a regular late. The mini plates aren’t as small as they sound and actually fill me up! I suggest ordering a mini plate if you are not a big eater. 

Service

Every time I go, the hostess and servers are friendly and attentive. My water is constantly filled and the servers check on us frequently.

Bathroom

There are bathrooms and you will need a code to access them.

Great place, great food, great service… I don’t know how many times I need to use great to describe this place, but it’s great! Zippys Honolulu, Makiki is one my favorite restaurant locations!
