I finally have a slow cooker to make Marsala beef stew! A Crock Pot Slow Cooker! I saw the Black Friday deal for the Crock Pot at Target, and my thoughts were: “I don’t really need this, but I could stick a bunch of ingredients in the Crock Pot and my food will be ready in 6 to 8 hours.” The thought of dinner being ready by the time I finished work sounded pretty amazing. I convinced myself to purchase the Crock Pot. Plus it was only 17 dollars. What a deal, right? With my Target red card, I received an additional 5 percent off. YAY!
I love using my Crock Pot. It makes cooking fun, easy and convenient. The slow cooker I use is the Crock-Pot Smart Pot 4 quart. If you live on your own or a significant other, the size of this pot is perfect for 2 to 4 people. It has a high setting for 4 and 6 hours and a low setting for 8 and 10 hours. This would be a great gift for birthdays and special occasions.
After buying the slow cooker, I set out to make my first Marsala beef stew. I felt like it was a match made in heaven. The month was November, and the weather was getting cooler so it was great timing to make Marsala beef stew dish for this cold weather.
I made the right decision to make Marala beef stew dish. The texture of slow cooked meat is tender and heartwarming. The aroma of the herbs as they slowly cook in the pot fills your house with warmth and fragrance. I was eagerly waiting for the stew to finish and salivating from the smell. The winter had come.

Directions:
The ingredients are beef, onions, potatoes, tomatoes, flour, marsala cooking wine, beef broth, garlic, thyme and rosemary. I bought beef stew cuts. The meat packaging will be labeled beef cuts for stew. Chuck Roast cuts will work too! I cut about half an onion and sliced them. As I was slicing the onions, my eyes teared up. I think I might need to wear goggles next time. :/ Anyway, back to the stew… cut the potatoes and tomatoes into quarters. Mince the garlic. For this recipe, I used dried rosemary and thyme, but if you prefer fresh rosemary and thyme, then use 1 tablespoon for each herb.
Coat the beef with flour.
In a heated pan, fry the olive oil, garlic, onions, thyme, and rosemary. Cook the onions until tender.
Add the meat to the pan and sear all sides of the beef.
Once the beef has browned, stir in the Marsala Wine.
Transfer the contents from the pan into the slow cooker. It smells so good already, right?
Put the broth, potatoes and tomatoes into the slow cooker.
Set the Crock Pot on Low for 8 hours. Your slow cooker beef stew will be ready in 8 hours.
