Hawaiian Butter Mochi | Hawaii’s Best Hawaiian Custard Butter Mochi
Hawaiian Butter Mochi is a popular dessert in Hawaii, and is reminiscent of Japanese Mochi. But there are differences between the two. For example, traditional Japanese Mochi consists of glutinous rice, while Hawaiian Butter Mochi contains mochiko flour. Butter Mochi is believed to be a blend of Japanese Mochi and Filipino Bibingka. I love that Hawaii’s cultural diversity is reflected in such a simple dessert.
