Daeng Nam Nuang, Nong Khai, Thailand
Daeng Nam Nuang, a must try restaurant, is located in the province of Nongkhai, Thailand. The restaurant lies along the beautiful Mekong river where you can sneak a glimpse of the western border of Laos.
Owned and operated by Thai born Vietnamese locals, this Vietnamese restaurant boasts high quality, fresh ingredients and delicious food.
They are known for their specialty item called nam nuang. Nam nuang is a Vietnamese dish and is translated as “grilled sausage”. You eat them by wrapping it in either lettuce or rice sheets. You then add other veggies and the dipping sauce into the wrap. There are two kinds of dipping sauces. One is a sweet chili sauce and the other a spicy peanut sauce.
The menu items also include deep fried spring rolls, fresh spring rolls, grilled pork spare ribs, skewered fried prawns, Vietnamese style salads, Vietnamese meatloaf, fried pork neck, and Vietnamese cured ham. Don’t forget to make room for dessert. You can select from various desserts like Banana in Coconut Milk, Taro in Coconut Milk, Sweet Corn and Tapioca in Coconut Milk and more!
Another great thing about this place is Daeng Nam Nuang sells to-go nam nuang packages in a box, which includes the rice sheets, noodles, garlic, veggies, nam nuang and sauces. Find these packages at the entrance of the restaurant. You can also find these nam naung boxes at the Udon Thani Airport. Their business has grown and expanded to locations in Udon Thani and Bangkok, Thailand. My family and I love buying the to-go nam nuang boxes. It’s so convenient and you have all the ingredients you need for lunch or dinner.
This is my favorite restaurant in Nong Khai, and I hope that you stop by at Daeng Nam Nuang when visiting Nong Khai. Dig in and enjoy the soft sounds of the river as you surrender to the food before you.
