Curry Chicken Puff Recipe

Recently, I have been having all sorts of cravings. My mom frequently sends me delicious photos of her food and what stood out the most was her homemade curry puff pastries. So, I decided to recreate her creation and post a curry chicken puff recipe on my blog. My curry chicken puff recipe is reminiscent of empanadas and meat pies. Either way, whatever you want to call them, they are super delicious!

The outside is flaky, and the filling is filled with chicken, potatoes, carrots and onions with a touch of curry and turmeric. The flakiness of the dough and the pastry filling melts in your mouth that you can’t help but want to eat more. To tell you the truth, I had four pastries in one sitting. I couldn’t help it; my curry chicken puff recipe was irresistible or was I just hungry?

The ingredients for the curry chicken puff recipe include three garlic cloves, ¼ quarter of a regular onion, half a carrot, two small red potatoes, oyster sauce, soy sauce, turmeric powder, curry powder and one boneless chicken thigh.

Chop everything using a food processor, so all the ingredients are small and will be able to fit into the puff pastry sheets. When it comes time to cook it, the meat and vegetables will absorb and incorporate the sauces and spices.

After everything is chopped, heat up a pan with oil and add the garlic. Cook the garlic for 30 seconds or until fragrant. Next, add the chicken. Cook the chicken until browned.

Next, toss in all the vegetables and mix well. Next, add in the oyster sauce, soy sauce, turmeric powder and curry power. Mix again and add in ¼ quarter of water. Cover the pan with a lid and cook until the filling dries up and has no more liquid.

I purchased Pepperidge Farm’s Frozen Puff Pastry Sheets, which you can find at Walmart, Target or your local grocery store. It comes with two sheets. Each sheet makes 9 pastries. Take one sheet and cut into nine squares. Crack an egg, mix, and set aside in bowl. You will be using the egg wash to line the inside edges of the pastry sheets and to close off the edges. Divide the filling into 9 portions.

Take one portion of the filling and place it on a puff pastry sheet. Line the edges with egg and press the edges to close. Take a fork and press down on the outside edges of the pastry. Repeat the above steps for the rest of the 8 puff pastry sheets.

Finally, take the egg wash and brush the egg on both surfaces of the curry chicken puffs. Bake at 350°F for 15 minutes.
