I recommend ordering their seafood dishes because it’s so fresh! Start off with their fried calamari, which is served with a wonderful garlic aioli sauce. My favorite item on the menu is the seared misoyaki butterfish; it sits on a bed of forbidden rice and a sweet ginger wasabi butter. I also recommend the honey mustard beef short ribs. Finish off your meal with Roy’s melting hot chocolate soufflé. The dishes are so flavorful and decadent. I can’t begin to describe in words how delicious the food is. You have to experience it for yourself. Roy’s is truly exceptional!
Teddy’s Bigger Burger
Teddy’s uses fresh and high quality beef, and each burger is made to order. The Teddy’s Original Bigger Burger comes in 1/3 pound (big), 1/2 pound (bigger) or 1-pound patties (biggest). What’s so special about Teddy’s? Well they have an amazing special sauce, a yellow sauce that’s drizzled inside the burger. The sauce is really special because the ingredients are top secret. I don’t know what’s in it, but it taste like a combination of mustard, barbecue sauce and Worcestershire sauce. I guess it doesn’t matter what’s inside it because the special sauce makes the burger super yummy! Anyway, if you decide to get a combo, I recommend getting the Original Big Burger with the garlic-seasoned fries. Other items I recommend are the chicken sandwich, veggie burger, salmon burger or lettuce wrap!
Marukame Udon
Marukame is located in Waikiki and Downtown Honolulu. Marukame serves Japanese udon and tempura. If you’re staying in Waikiki, you can probably walk to the restaurant. It’s one of the cheapest restaurants in Waikiki. This place gets crowded during lunch and dinner so make sure to get there before the rush. Even if there is a long line, the wait isn’t too long. Everything is under $10.00. Cheap, right? I personally don’t like udon, but after eating here, this place is an exception. The udon noodles are soft and delicious. Honestly, one of the best udon places on Oahu. My favorite dish from Marukame is the Curry Udon.

There are so many ramen places on Oahu so you must stop at a ramen shop. My favorite ramen shop is Menya Le Nood. Menya Le Nood is so underrated and deserves more recognition. They offer three broth flavors: shoyu, black tonkotsu, tonkotsu and goma. My favorite is the goma broth. The first time I took a sip of the broth, I was just blown away; the taste was so bold and rich. If you want to be adventurous, you can make it spicy! Choose from mild to hot. Da Spot
I really enjoy eating at Da Spot because it offers a variety of healthy and affordable food choices. Just because you are on vacation doesn’t mean you can’t eat healthy, and Da Spot gives you that option to eat well while you’re vacationing in Hawaii. The food selection is also quite diverse because it serves a wide array of ethnic cuisines from around the world. Enjoy foods from around the globe including Egyptian, Greek, French, Italian, Indian, Thai, Malaysian, Ethiopian, American, Hawaiian, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, and Pacific cuisine as well as other fusion dishes. Depending on your appetite, you have the choice to choose between a mini or a regular plate. Aside from entrée plates, there are sandwiches, smoothies and desserts.

Shirokiya transports you to a different country, and you feel like you are in Japan! It is a Japanese food court with a variety of food options. You can eat curry, katsu, noodles, ramen, Japanese desserts, Japanese appetizers, ice cream, and more. It’s endless! My two favorite food vendors are Gourmet Plaza Japan and Udon Gamadashi. At Gourmet Plaza, most of their meal sets are $12.00. The meal sets are a good size and worth the price! Udon Gamadashi is reasonably priced and similar to Marukame Udon in terms of food items.
Curry House
The name of the restaurant says it all. Curry house is a Japanese restaurant chain that serves Japanese style rice curry. You can customize your curry dish by toppings, rice portion and spicy level! The most popular item on the menu is the chicken cutlet curry with cheese. Cheese always makes everything yummy!

I recommend going to Moku Kitchen during their happy hour! They offer discounts on small plates and entrees. Early happy hour is 3:00 pm to 5:30 pm, and late-night happy hour is 10:00 pm to 11:00 pm. Appetizers are 50% off and pizzas are $10.00. Happy hour appetizers include pork pot stickers, roasted squash ravioli, truffle fries, ahi poke and more. It’s a great dining atmosphere!
Tanioka’s
